Stacey North

Stacey Stewart North Date of Birth: Nov 25, 1964

England Youth international centre-half Stacey signed on for his local club Luton from school, but found it difficult to force his way into the Hatters Division One side given the form of firstly Paul Elliott and then Steve Foster.

A firm tackler, good in the air and the possessor of a superb long throw, Stacey made only 25 League appearances in four years at Kenilworth Road before reluctantly moving to West Brom in 1987 for £100,000.

He was altogether more successful at the Hawthorns and after over 100 appearances for the Baggies made a £130,000 switch to Fulham.

Osteoarthritis forced his early retirement from the game and he moved to America where he became involved in a football coaching school.
