Stephen O'Leary

Stephen Michael O'Leary Date of Birth: Feb 2, 1987

London born Stephen O’Leary joined Luton Town as a 13 year old after he had been spotted playing for Barnet Schools. He was awarded a Scholarship in the Summer of 2001 at the same time as Kevin Foley.

Stephen had caught the eye of several London based clubs, with The Hatters fighting off competition for his signature. Stephen made his debut in the Second Round tie against Rushden & Diamonds in The LDV Vans Trophy in November 2003. The Hatters ran out 2-1 winners even with Sol Davis getting sent off at the end of the first half. Stephen then made his League debut as a substitute in a 4-1 home win over Brentford in February 2004, with The Town going onto win the League 1 Championship. He was loaned out to Tranmere in the 2005/06 impressing the manager Brian Little, and supporters with his 3 goals from Midfield from his 21 appearances. He returned to Luton signing a 1 year extension in May 2007 after getting a meaningful run in the side.

However, with The Hatters starting their rapid descent down the Leagues, Stephen opted to turn down a new contract offer in Summer 2008, wanting to play at a higher level. Stephen moved onto Hereford United and then Bradford City where his run in the side was limited by a persistent toe injury. His career also included multiple stints at Kettering Town as well as periods at Boreham Wood, Dunstable Town and finally Hemel Hempstead Town which was his final club in 2012. Since retiring Stephen started the company ProFitnessUK and has been a freelance Personal Trainer.
