Stephen Robinson

Stephen Robinson Date of Birth: Dec 10, 1974

Northern Ireland schoolboy international Steve signed on for Tottenham as a youth trainee but failed to make the breakthrough at White Hart Lane, making only two Premiership appearances.

A busy midfielder, Steve joined Bournemouth on a free transfer in October 1994 and went on to become virtually ever present in the Cherries team for six seasons, picking up full international caps for his country along the way.

A £375,000 move to Preston in 2000 did not work out and, after a loan spell at Bristol City, Steve found a permanent transfer to Joe Kinnear’s Luton in 2002 much more to his liking.

Able to play anywhere in midfield, Steve remained a regular in the Hatters side and made over 200 first team appearances in his six years at Kenilworth Road.

After retiring, Steve worked for the Irish FA before becoming manager of Oldham for a short time. His next managerial position, at Motherwell, was rather more successful.
