Steve Buckley

Steve Buckley Date of Birth: Oct 16, 1953

One of the best left-backs in the Town’s history, Steve was signed by Luton manager Harry Haslam from Burton Albion in 1974 and it was not long before his cultured left foot and surging runs down the wing became a feature of the Hatter’s play.

Steve was a virtual ever-present in the Luton side until an offer of £165,000 from Tommy Docherty’s Derby in January 1978 was too good to turn down.

Becoming just as popular at Derby, Steve enjoyed eight remarkably consistent years at the Baseball Ground before taking up a succession of managerial roles at non-League level.

In more recent times Steve scouted for older brother Alan as well as working as a lorry driver.
