Teddy Daw

Edwin Charles Daw Date of Birth: Jan 23, 1875

Born in Doncaster in 1875 goalkeeper Teddy had trials at Sheffield United and played a couple of League games with Grimsby but was plying his trade at Rushden when he was picked up the Town in 1899.

In the ill-fated 1899-1900 season, at the end of which the Town left the Football League after finishing second bottom, Teddy was an ever present shining light even though conceding 75 goals.

The form of the six-footer came to the attention of Leicester Fosse and he enjoyed two seasons there before spells at Doncaster and Bradford City, finally finishing his career with a solitary appearance back at Leicester in 1910.

In later life Teddy worked for a typewriter manufacturer in Leicester before passing away in that city in 1944.
