Tom Naisby

Tom Naisby Date of Birth: Mar 12, 1878

Born in Sunderland in 1878, Tom was a capable goalkeeper, albeit on the short side, who was given a couple of games in Sunderland’s first team in 1898.

Tom then went on to enjoy two seasons at Reading where he was ever present, leading to Sunderland asking him back. From Roker Park he had three years at Leeds City before joining the Town in the summer of 1910.

Virtually ever present over the next two seasons, Tom became a fan’s favourite in a poor team but was not prepared to play lower grade football when the Town were relegated in 1912 and moved on to South Shields before finishing his career at Darlington.

Tom passed away in 1927.
