Tommy Wright

Tommy Wright Date of Birth: Sep 28, 1984

Born Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, Tommy was a fearless centre forward who started his career with Leicester City in 2001 but appearances were limited to 21 with 5 goals resulting. Loans to Brentford and Blackpool were successful and helped develop him. However, injury set him back and in 2006 he was transferred to Barnsley for £50,000. He helped them win promotion via the play offs but moved on to Darlington where he helped to get the Quakers into the League Two play offs with 13 goals. He also won the F.A. Trophy in 2011 playing alongside Liam Hatch when Darlington beat Mansfield Town. A £100,000 transfer to Aberdeen was the reward. Injury and discipline issue reduced appearances and Tommy was on the move again.

Tommy appeared for 9 clubs in the next 7 years and signed for the Hatters in October 2011. He scored 3 times in 6 appearances. The first goal was a brave close range header against a former team, Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.

Tommy became player manager of Corby in 2013 where he played 57 times scoring 7 goals. A season managing Nuneaton was followed by two years (2017-2019) in charge at Darlington. Short spells as manager of Stratford Town and then back at Corby Town was followed by a career change when Tommy became a Police Officer.
