Tony Grealish

Anthony Patrick Grealish Date of Birth: Sep 21, 1956

Although born in West London, Tony was proud of his Irish roots and went on to make 44 appearances as a dogged midfielder for Eire.

Joining Orient from school, Tony had five years at Brisbane Road before moving to Luton in 1979 in one of the first ‘transfer tribunals’. The eventual fee of £150,000 was money well spent as he enjoyed two good seasons in the Luton midfield making 78 League appearances and scoring two goals, including a blinder at Chelsea.

Surprisingly transferred to Brighton in an exchange deal involving Brian Horton, Tony skippered the Seagulls in the 1983 F.A.Cup final before working his way down through the divisions.

Tony worked in insurance for many years before becoming involved in a scrap metal business. Tony sadly passed away in 2013.
