Tony Knight

Tony Anthony Knight Date of Birth: Sep 24, 1951

Romford born Tony was spotted by Luton scouts and after serving his apprenticeship signed professional terms for the Hatters in May 1976.

Still only 17, Tony found himself thrust in at the deep end when, with regular goalkeeper Keith Barber going down with a heavy cold, he was forced into the firing line at home to Bristol Rovers in November 1976. He acquitted himself well in a 4-2 win and was credited with some wonder saves as Rovers fought back late in the game.

Sadly, that was as good as it got for Tony as, although he made a further five appearances for the Hatters deputising for the established number one, he was released in 1978 and moved to Dover for one season and then on to Brighton where he failed to make a first team appearance.
