After failing to make the grade at both Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough, goalkeeper Tony joined Luton in March 1965 but such was the malaise sweeping through Kenilworth Road it was a while before they discovered their new signing had arrived with a broken bone in his foot!

Tony always fancied himself as a striker and got his chance the following season and netted twelve goals in only twenty starts including a hat-trick against Notts County at Kenilworth Road.

The rich vein of form did not last and it was back in goal for Tony who became a firm fans favourite over the next six years while seeing off several pretenders to his throne in that time with his spectacular shot stopping and athleticism.

Tony is now retired in Dersingham where he continues to practice his golf swing.
