Wayne Thomas

Wayne Thomas Date of Birth: May 17, 1979

Born Gloucester, England, a central defender, Wayne came to Luton towards the end of his playing career having started with lengthy spells at Torquay United and Stoke City. 2002 saw him help Stoke win the Second Division play offs and he was voted Player of the Season. When his contract expired he was sought by many clubs. A move to Burnley followed and a two year contract which was sadly marred by two serious injuries. Wayne went on to play for 12 clubs (Worcester City twice) in the remainder of his career.

Wayne came to Luton in February 2013 for the remainder of the season. A former captain at most of his previous clubs, a leader and voice on the pitch he seemed to fit the bill. Unfortunately his two appearances resulted in defeats, at home to Mansfield and away at Braintree Town. Wayne was released in the Summer.

2015 saw a spell at New York Red Bulls as an Academy coach but came back to the UK the following year to play for short spells for Kidderminster Harriers, Altrincham and Stratford Town. A spell as Rushall Olympic Manager was followed by his second spell playing at Worcester City. He left the UK in 2018 to take up a job at a West Bromwic Albion Soccer School in China.
