William Everitt
William Everitt Share "William Everitt" on FacebookBorn in Luton in 1882, William turned out for Luton Terriers but was called up to play for the Town’s reserve side as an amateur in the South - Eastern League on occasion.
His only first team opportunity came in April 1903 in a 3-1 home defeat to Southampton when he was asked to stand-in at wing half for Bob Hawkes. He held several Beds Cup Final medals and assisted Luton Clarence on a few occasions.
Also known as Percy William Champkins, he lived at 125 Chapel Street and was a straw-hat blocker by trade, and was also employed by former director Thomas Burley during the felting season. He died of consumption on the 10th of February 1913 at just 32 years old, leaving a widow and six children, the eldest of whom was only fourteen years of age.
