William Jelly Share "William Jelly" on FacebookBorn in Edmonton in 1895, William played for Clarion on Tottenham marshes before joining Grove Albion in the Middlesex & District League.
Spotted by a Luton supporter who was working in London, he was recommended to the Hatters for a trial but made only one appearance on the right-wing in a 2-2 draw at Croydon Common in the Southern Alliance in November 1912.
An apprentice cabinet maker by trade, he enlisted as a private in the Middlesex Regiment but was sadly killed in action on the Somme in World War One.
