Yaser and his family came to the UK when he was 7, he began his football career with Fulham Youth in 2006 then moving on the Tottenham. He turned down a professional contract with Spurs and instead signed a 3 month contract with Brighton in October 2010. The contract was extended but Yaser only played one game in each of the first two seasons. In July 2012 he was loan to Luton Town for 6 months.

Yaser started the first 4 games as defensive midfield under manager Paul Buckle in the Conference (5th tier). He was substituted at half time in the fourth game, a 1 0 defeat at home to AFC Telford and could not regain his place. His last game was as substitute on the 3 2 home defeat to Braintree on the 9th October 2012.

Yaser spent the second half of the season on loan at Macclesfield and was released by Brighton at the end of the season. He signed for League One (3rd tier) Swindon Town on a 3 year deal which was extended. He played 142 times in 4 seasons for the Wiltshire club scoring 8 goals but was dogged by injury in the latter stages. The rest of his career saw little first team football in spells with Northampton, Margate, Gloucester, Welling United and spells in Sweden and two clubs in Iraq.

Yaser player 21 times for his country scoring 3 goals between 2014 and 2021.

 He retired from the playing side in May 2024 to concentrate on coaching and other activities.
