Alf Tirrell

Alfred Percy Tirrell Date of Birth: Feb 7, 1892

Born in Desborough in 1894, Alf started out at Peterborough City before moving to West Ham in 1913.

Although not a regular for the Hammers, Alf missed a chunk of his football career due to the Great War and came to Luton in the summer of 1920.

A left back who was said to be ‘hefty’ he was a good tackler who read the game well. A virtual ever-present for three years he was badly injured early in his fourth season and decided to call it a day and retire to concentrate on his business interests.

Alf passed away in 1944.
