Arthur Hubbard
Arthur Hubbard Date of Birth: Apr 8, 1911 Share "Arthur Hubbard" on FacebookBorn in Erdington in 1911, Arthur played for local works teams before being picked up by Birmingham in 1934 and making a handful of appearances in their top flight side.
It came as a surprise in the Midlands when he was allowed to come to Luton in the summer of 1935 but after two games for the Town at left-back at the start of 1935-36, which both ended in defeat, and the emergence of Tom Smith in that position he was relegated to the reserves.
Retained for a second season, he fared little better as the consistent and injury free Smith made the left-back position his own as the Town strode to promotion. Arthur made a further two appearances that campaign with his final game coming in the 8-1 home win over Cardiff.
At the season’s end, Arthur moved to Dunstable Town and passed away in Solihull in 1972.
