Bill Fellowes
Bill William Fellowes Date of Birth: Mar 15, 1910 Share "Bill Fellowes" on FacebookBorn in Bradford, Devon in 1910, Bill started his League career with Plymouth but, unable to win a regular spot in the team, was given a free transfer to Clapton Orient in 1933.
A wing-half who was strong in the tackle, good in the air and an excellent reader of the game he became sought after at Orient leading to the Town paying out a record transfer fee for his services in 1935 as they sought to build a side to win promotion.
Signed from Orient on a free transfer at the same time was Jock Finlayson and he together with Fellowes and Jack Nelson formed a formidable middle line as the Town won promotion in 1937 and subsequently enjoyed success in Division Two.
Wanting a move back to the West Country where his family ran a sports outfitters he joined Exeter in 1938 and remained with them until 1947.
Bill passed away in Plymouth in 1987.
