Bob Abbott

Local boy Bob first made his name for Bedford Town before joining Luton in 1912 and spending eight years at the club, although half were lost to the First World War.

A safe, steady goalkeeper he never fully claimed the position as his own and eventually joined Llanelli before ending up back at Bedford.

Bob worked at Vauxhall Motors until his retirement in 1953.
