Crosby Henderson

Crosby Gray Henderson Date of Birth: May 12, 1885

Born in South Hylton, Sunderland in 1885, Crosby was picked up by Newcastle after playing local football but failed to make the grade there. His next move, to Grimsby, was far more successful as he racked up 65 League appearances over two years as the regular left back before unwisely accepting a move to Birmingham.

Only a bit part player at St Andrews he moved to Brighton where it was more of the same before coming to Luton as the side prepared to embark on Southern League Division Two football following relegation in 1912.

Starting at right back his experience helped a young side but injuries in the second half of the campaign led to him deciding to retire from the game.

Returning to Sunderland as a ship yard fitter he passed away in the town in 1970.
