Danny Hylton

Daniel Thomas Hylton Born: 25th February 1989 From:
  1. Camden
  2. London
  3. England

Born Camden, Greater London, a centre forward, Danny started out with Aldershot Town in 2005 as a 16 year old. He stayed with the Shots for 8 seasons, 3 in the Conference and 5 in League Two (4th tier) making 226 appearances and scoring 53 goals. In the Summer of 2013 Danny joined League One Rotherham United on a two year deal. He played one game and then was loaned out to Bury and then AFC Wimbledon for the rest of the season. Having gained promotion to the Championship, Danny was transfer listed in the Summer of 2014. Oxford United signed him on a two year deal which resulted in 101 appearances and 30 goals including a goal at Wembley in the Football League Trophy Final.

Danny refused another contract and signed for Nathan Jones, Town manager. It was a perfect fit. His bustling, all action style mixed with the dark arts or “****housery” made him a fans favourite and the song “Super Danny Hylton” soon rang around stadiums. He scored on his debut in a 3 0 win at Plymouth in August 2016. That first season in League Two saw 47 appearances and 27 goals. The following season saw promotion to League One as runners up with Danny scoring 23 times in 43 games.

Injury and a tougher level saw Danny only make 52 appearances in the Championship (2nd tier) in the next three seasons scoring just 4 goals.

Danny moved on to Northampton Town where he failed to score in 32 games over two seasons. Nathan Jones, now at Charlton Athletic, signed Danny in September 2024 as a player coach. 10 appearances and one goal in League One saw Danny retire from the playing side in the Summer of 2025 and continue his coaching role.
