Darren Salton

Darren Brian Salton Date of Birth: Mar 16, 1972

Darren came to Luton Town as a Youth Trainee in 1988, along with his Edinburgh youth club playing colleague Paul Telfer, before signing professional forms in March 1989. A Scottish Schoolboy and Youth international Darren was destined for great things after making his League debut for the Hatters at Leeds in 1992.

After earning Scotland Under-21 caps the cool and commanding central defender became a fixture in the Luton side as the 1992/93 campaign progressed but it all ended suddenly when he was severely injured in a fatal road accident in November 1992.

Despite brave thoughts of a comeback it was sadly not to be, but Darren still remained involved in football in the role of manager of Hitchin Town and subsequently assistant manager at Hemel Hempstead and Slough.
