Initially with local junior side West Park, he then played for Vauxhall Motors in the Spartan League and gained representative honours.
He joined the Hatters in September 1952 whilst on National Service based in Gainsborough and made his solitary Second Division appearance in the Town’s 2-1 victory at Notts County in October 1953. After spending the 1954/55 promotion campaign in the reserves he joined Dunstable in July 1955 and worked as a jig and tool fitter for Vauxhall Motors until retirement. Edgar lived locally until he passed away in 2008.
