Although the Luton records show Frank to have been born in Falkirk in 1874, it is generally reckoned he came into the world four years earlier and fibbed to the club to make himself appear younger!

Starting with Clyde he moved to England with Darwen in 1896 before a spell at Millwall leading to joining the Town in 1899 just as they were about to play in their last season in the Football League.

A wing-half with good experience he was playing in a side full of young locals who were not up to his standard and could not anticipate his clever through balls.

In mid-season, due to severe financial constraints, Frank and some other of the well paid professionals were encouraged to leave. Frank joined Barnsley for whom he was virtually ever present for the next eighteen months.

Reduced to only one appearance in 1901-02 he retired from the game and worked in the coalmines in Hemsworth. Frank passed away in Hemsworth in 1940.
