Frank Rollinson

Frank Rollinson Date of Birth: Jun 21, 1884

Born in Sheffield in 1884, Frank soon caught the eye of Wednesday and working his way up through the reserves at Hillsborough making his League debut in 1906-07.

In five years he was never a regular with the Owls so was happy to join Leicester Fosse in 1911 where he was no more successful but he probably found his level at his next club, Portsmouth, who helped to promotion from Southern League Division Two.

Moving to Luton in the summer of 1913, he was expected to do the same and in this he succeeded being almost ever present as a maker and taker of goals from a position of inside-left. His 17 goals allied to numerous chances presented to Ernie Simms and Arthur Wileman made sure that the Town won promotion back to Southern League Division One after two years away.

Frank managed the step up with ease and finished second top scorer in 1914-15 behind Simms before the Great War sadly ended his first class career.

Frank died from pneumonia in Sheffield in 1927, aged only 43.
