George Lennon

Born in Kilwinning in 1889, George was unlucky not receive a full Scottish cap given his performances at right-back for Third Lanark and St Mirren.

The Town were forced to pay £700 for his services from St Mirren in the summer of 1920 but it proved money well spent as he was virtually ever present for three years as a stylish, fast and formidable right-back and captain with excellent distribution skills.

Money problems forced the club to accept a bid of £500 from Stoke in March 1923 but he did not settle there and after a spell with Weymouth he finished his League career with Bristol Rovers at the end of 1925-26.

George passed away in Kilwinning in 1984 at 95.
