George Thorne Date of Birth: Jan 4, 1993 Share "George Thorne" on FacebookBorn Chatham, Kent. George started out with West Bromwich Albion but failed to nail down a first team place and was loaned out 5 times in 5 seasons. 2014/15 saw him sign for Derby County where he spent 6 seasons in the Championship. A midfielder, he struggled to get a run of games in the first team with the 2025/16 season being his best with 33 appearances.
George came to Kenilworth Road on loan in January 2019 when manager Nathan Jones was about to leave for Stoke City. He was on the bench for the 4-0 demolition of Peterborough United and came on for Alan McCormack in the 69th minute. It was hard to break into an excellent Town side who would end the season as Champions. George managed only 2 more spots on the bench before returning to Derby.
George signed Oxford for the 2019/20 season but played in only 7 games. He was released at the end of the season. In August 2022 he announced his retirement from the professional game and signed for Bedford Town. A short spell as assistant manager of St. Neots Town followed in 2023.
