Gilbert Brookes

Born in Kidderminster in 1895, Gilbert was an experienced goalkeeper who signed for the Town at the age of 29 in the summer of 1924 having previously been with Stoke and Swansea in the Football League..

Ever present in the 1924-25 season he was sadly part of a side that finished a dismal 16th and was not retained at the campaign’s end, moving to Merthyr for a year before ending up at Kidderminster Harriers.

After retiring from the game, Gilbert became licensee of The Sportsmans pub in Kidderminster until the time of his death in 1952.
