Harry Bailey

Harry Bailey Date of Birth: Dec 2, 1897

Born in Macclesfield in 1897, Harry kept goal in a fair booth before joining his local Town club. On the outbreak of War he was enlisted into the Grenadier Guards and whilst playing in an army team was spotted by Millwall with whom he played a handful of games before being released.

Joining Luton in the summer of 1920, after a trial, he was regarded as a reserve but soon became first choice, a position he held for two seasons until being displaced by Tommy Gibbon.

After a final season in the reserves, Harry joined Exeter for whom he starred for four years before shorter spells at Brentford and the ill-fated Thames FC.

In later life Harry became a turnstile operator at Brentford.
