Harry Walden

Harold Bertram Walden Date of Birth: Dec 22, 1940

Fast and clever winger Harry came to the attention of Luton when he was starring for Southern League club Kettering Town.

After signing for the Hatters in January 1961 he was thrust into the first team almost immediately and was a revelation in a 1-2 defeat at Norwich but an elbow injury then cut back his appearances over the remainder of that season.

Harry was back with a bang in1961/62 and was regarded as the Town’s regular right winger with this form following into the next campaign when many said that a bad injury suffered by the flanker in March 1963 was a major contributing factor to the Hatter’s relegation from Division Two.

Harry moved on to Northampton in 1964 in exchange for Billy Hails plus £3,000 and helped the Cobblers into the top flight a year later.

After finishing his career back at Kettering, Harry became a school caretaker in Northampton and basked in the knowledge that he had an unofficial fan club at Kenilworth Road!

Harry sadly passed away in 2018.
