James Robinson
James Robinson Date of Birth: Mar 24, 1889 Share "James Robinson" on FacebookBorn in Rotherham in 1889, Jim was a no-nonsense full-back who played his early football for Silverwood Colliery before joining Sheffield United.
Unable to win a first team spot with the Blades he moved to Luton in the summer of 1913 along with goalkeeper Joe Mitchell.
After a slow start to his Luton career he eventually made the left back position his own as the Town stormed to promotion from Southern League Division Two. After a good start to 1914-15 Jim eventually lost his place to John Dunn and with Dick Elvey on the other flank he returned to Yorkshire and during war-time went back to becoming a miner at Silverwood, a reserve occupation.
