Jimmy Chipperfield

Although born in Bethnal Green in 1894, Jimmy was brought up in Luton and attended Dunstable Road school.

Starring for Luton Clarence, the sturdily built and tricky forward signed amateur forms for Luton while still working for Commer Cars but made only one first team appearance before the Great War broke out.

Guesting for Arsenal during the war years he blossomed and suddenly became sought after and opted to join Tottenham rather than come back to the Town once hostilities ceased although the £1000 transfer fee softened the blow. After a good start at White Hart Lane a cartilage injury held him back and he moved on to Notts County for £1500 before finishing his first class career at Charlton.

Jimmy passed away in Wandsworth in 1966.
