John Julian
John Julian Date of Birth: Jul 10, 1867 Share "John Julian" on FacebookBorn in Boston in 1867, Bill first played for his local side before moving to Royal Arsenal where he earned the reputation of being ‘one of the best defenders in the land’.
It was therefore seen as a great coup to bring him to Luton in 1892 and although the Town had to agree to him remaining in London, making him captain and paying him more than most of the other players he, above all, elevated the club’s standing in the early days of its history.
A clever, tough defender he was at Luton two years before falling out over money and moved to Tottenham and then to Dartford.
After retiring, Bill was one of the pioneers of Dutch football, coaching there both before and after the Great War.
Bill passed away in Enfield in 1957.
