John Saddington
John Saddington Share "John Saddington" on FacebookBorn in Exton, Rutland in 1868, John attended Grantham Grammar School and played his first recorded football with the strong Grantham Rovers side.
Unable to gain a regular place, John joined the Strawplaiters in 1890 playing either at left-back or left half in what was to be his only season at the club, whilst also working on the railways.
In later years John continued to work on the railways but by 1911 he was a licensed victualler, living with his wife and father in Grantham.
