Lewis Bedford

Lewis Bedford Date of Birth: May 26, 1899

Born in Birmingham in 1904, Lewis enjoyed four spells at Walsall in a long career and it was from there he signed for the Town in the summer of 1928 and to there he returned 18 months later.

As well as Walsall, he enjoyed periods at West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday before coming to Kenilworth Road where, as a speedy and clever right winger, he set up many of Andy Rennie’s 43 goals in the 1928-29 campaign.

He started the following season in the same vein but an injury curtailed his effectiveness and after a period in the reserves he went back to Walsall.

Lewis passed away in Walsall in 1975.
