Matt Ingram

Matt Ingram Date of Birth: Dec 18, 1993

Born in High Wycombe, Matt Ingram joined local side Wycombe Wanderers’ academy, earning high praise from a young age, being selected whilst still a scholar to sit on the bench for the first team squad. His development was further helped with loans to Lewes, Hayes & Yeading as well as Oxford City, across the 2012/13 season.

Breaking into the first team squad at such a young age, meant that Ingram had accrued over 120 first team appearances under his belt by the time he was 23. His performances for League 2 Wycombe drew the attention further up the pyramid, which resulted in a transfer to Queens Park Rangers. Unfortunately this transfer didn’t work out, failing to break into the first team, and being sent out on loan to Northampton and even back to Wycombe on an emergency 7 day loan. Hull gave Matt Ingram a route back into the Championship and first team football, signing him prior to the 2019/20 season.

His move to Luton arose in unfortunate circumstances due to a goalkeeping injury crisis that saw James Shea ruled out with a serious knee injury, Simon Sluga’s replacement, Jed Steer rupture his achilles while claiming a cross and Alex Palmer’s emergency loan not being able to be renewed. Playoff chasing Luton desperately needed a goalkeeper, with Hull not having anything left to play for during the 2021/22 season, they allowed Ingram to join on an emergency loan. He had a baptism of fire at Craven Cottage, on an off day for the Hatters that saw the team concede 7 goals. Fortunately, he kept a clean sheet in the final game of the regular season against Reading, and performed well in both legs of the playoff semi final against Huddersfield. Unfortunately due to the severe injury crisis throughout the first team squad, Luton Town fell short of a trip to Wembley that season losing 2-1 over both legs.

Matt Ingram continued on at Hull City, with continuous competition for the spot between the sticks.
