Peter Platt

Peter Platt Date of Birth: Jan 23, 1883

Born in Rishton, near Blackburn in 1883, Peter had made only one appearance in goal for Rovers before moving to Liverpool in 1902 where he followed in the footsteps of Bill Perkins.

After two successful seasons at Anfield he lost his place in his third so was pleased to come to Luton in the summer of 1905 where he became known as the Town’s best goalkeeper in the Southern League era.

Good in the air, great positioning and a good organiser, Peter remained virtually ever present for four seasons before finally losing his place to Richard Jarvis in 1909 and moving on to Nuneaton Town.

After hanging his gloves up, Peter became a publican in Nuneaton and passed away there in 1922 just short of his 39th birthday.
