Rob Johnson

Robert Simon Johnson Date of Birth: Feb 22, 1962

Bedford born Rob turned professional for Luton in August 1979 but his career was almost over before it started as he suffered two serious knee injuries which he had to get over before making his League debut for Lincoln on loan in August 1983.

The tenacious full-back earned his Hatters debut soon after but further injuries meant that his appearances were only sporadic over the next six years although he did turn out in the magical Littlewoods Cup final win over Arsenal in 1988.

A move to David Pleat’s Leicester in 1989 was not a success and after spells at Barnet and Hitchin he turned to physiotherapy which he had studied during his long periods on the sidelines.

Rob became a physio with the English Institute of Sport for 15 years before joining a private practice in Bedford.
