Rob Matthews
Rob Matthews Date of Birth: Oct 14, 1970 Share "Rob Matthews" on FacebookRob first caught the eye of Notts County when turning out for Shepshed Charterhouse while studying for a degree at Loughborough University.
He signed for the Magpies in March 1992 and made his full debut against the Hatters at Meadow Lane on the final day of that season, scoring twice to send the Town down from Division One after ten years at the top.
Injuries cut back his appearances at Meadow Lane but after returning to the side and firing on all cylinders he was snapped up by David Pleat’s Luton for £80,000 in March 1995.
Sadly things did not work out at Kenilworth Road and he became York City’s record signing six months later. Since then the hard working winger or inside forward appeared for several League clubs in the north finishing with Hull for whom he scored the only goal at Kenilworth Road in 2001.
Rob went on to play for Northwich Victoria and Mossley before hanging up his boots.
