Robert Whalley

Robert Whalley Date of Birth: Sep 22, 1905

Born at Flimby, Cumberland in 1909, Robert started off at Workington before being snapped up by Nottingham Forest in 1928 where he failed to break into the first team.

He was more successful at Midland League side Peterborough where he was a prolific goalscorer leading to a move to Lincoln where he scored four goals in nine games before being released and returning to Peterborough.

His third chance at making a career in the Football League came in the summer of 1932 when he joined the Town but, despite scoring on his debut, was always second choice to Doug Rowe.

After only five games over 1932-33, Robert called it a day and took up employment with Vauxhall Motors and played for their works side.
