Ron Stevens

Ronald Frederick Stevens Date of Birth: Nov 26, 1914

Born in Luton in 1914, Ron played for Bromlea United and Hitchin but wanted to finish his apprenticeship as a moulder before signing on for the Town, which he eventually did in the summer of 1935.

Ron was a left-winger but was unfortunate to be at the club at the same time as George Stephenson. He was doubly unfortunate as in only his second game, a 3-0 defeat at Southend on Boxing Day 1936, he suffered a knee injury which needed an operation, keeping him out for the remainder of that campaign.

He made only five more appearances over the next two seasons and, accepting the inevitable, signed for QPR just as War broke out.

Ron played as a guest for the Town during the War and passed away in Luton in 1999.
