Shane Gore

Shane Gore Date of Birth: Oct 28, 1981

Born Ashford, Kent, Shane began his goalkeeping career with Wimbledon and stayed for four years making just one appearance. He was loaned out to St. Albans City, Peterborough United and then Barnet. Shane then signed a one year deal with the Bees. A regular first team place eluded him as it also did with Stevenage. A move to Havant and Waterlooville did the trick and he played 45 times in the 2006/07 season. A short spell at Thurrock was followed by 40 games for Isthmian Premier side East Thurrock United. On to Maidenhead United for the 2008/09 season and 46 games.

Known to Town manager, Mick Harford, from his Wimbledon days when Shane was on he fringes of the first team, he accepted a one month deal that was rolled over to the end of the 2009/10 season. As under study to Mark Tyler there was little opportunity in the first team and he made just three appearances. The first two were in the replayed F.A. Cup tie with Rochdale. The other was as an early substitute in the defeat at home to Ebbsfleet United when Kevin Pilkington was injured.

In the Summer of 2010 Shane moved to Chesham United of the Southern Premier League. It was a perfect fit and in the next 6 seasons he played over 300 times. After a couple of loans out near the end of his time at Chesham, Shane signed for Wingate and Finchley of the Isthmian League Premier where he made 200  appearances He ended his playing career at Cheshunt in 2020.
