Terry Kelly

Terence William John Kelly Date of Birth: Jan 16, 1932

Local boy Terry signed on for his home town side Luton in 1950 after starring for Vauxhall Motors but had to then spend two years in the RAF on National Service before he could begin to forge a career at Kenilworth Road.

A tall, commanding centre-half, Terry had a problem displacing skipper Syd Owen from that position and made his debut at centre forward at Bristol Rovers in 1954 and scored! Terry had to wait until Syd retired before claiming a regular spot in the Luton side but by the time he left the club to join Cambridge City in 1963 he had racked up 136 League appearances for the Hatters.

After a spell at Dunstable, Terry worked at Vauxhall until retirement and was still living in Luton at the time of his death in 2007.
