Tricky winger Vince joined Crystal Palace from school, making over 250 League appearances for the South London club and seemingly set to stay there for the rest of his career until a call came from Luton manager David Pleat in July 1984.

The chance of Division One football was too good to turn down but, beset with injuries, Vince managed only nine games at Kenilworth Road before he was on his way again with Portsmouth paying £100,000 for his services. He enjoyed four successful years at Fratton Park followed by spells at Leeds, Stoke and Exeter before becoming player/manager at Waterlooville.

Vince then turned to coaching junior football in the Portsmouth area and brought out an autobiography in 2018..
