The first derby game between the two clubs since 1972 appears to be heading for a boring 0-0 draw when Hatters’ full-back, Kirk Stephens, drifts upfield and, at the far post, heads home a long cross from Hatton for his first goal for the Town. Earlier, Stein saw his shot rebound off the bar.

FEATURED MATCH
hatters' heritage SPOTLIGHT
The ‘Croatian Sensation’ came to England after meeting a Romford girl
who was on holiday in Croatia. The former Dubrovnik midfielder had
trials at both Millwall and Luton before accepting a contract with
Leyton Orient in November 1999.
In East London he starred as the ‘O’s won through to the 2001
play-off finals, where they lost 2-4 to Blackpool, before signing for
Luton that summer on a ‘Bosman’ free transfer.
Since that time he was a regular in a Hatters side that climbed from
the basement to the Championship and won the fans over with his clever
footwork, intelligent use of the ball and occasional spectacular goals
from overhead kicks!
Leaving Luton in 2007 for a spell at Millwall, ‘Brko’ then went back to Croatia to re-sign for his first club Dubrovnic.
Born in Perthshire, he received his medical
education at the University of Edinburgh and moved to Luton shortly
afterwards to join a group practice. He would marry Ursula Brown in 1926
and they’d have two children one of whom, John, would also become a
doctor, while the other, Margaret, would marry future club chairman
Robert Keens.
Edward served as medical officer for many years in
the 30s,40s and 50s. Away from the football club he was a well respected
surgeon at Bute Hospital and, dissatisfied with local amenities, an
important figure in the opening of the Luton and Dunstable Hospital in
1939, where he would serve as chairman of the Medical Staff.
He passed away in 1970.
ABOUT US
WHAT YOU CAN DO
The Heritage Lottery Fund enabled us to launch the website which we believe is the most comprehensive of any club in the country.
Whilst we benefit from the unpaid work of volunteers, we need funds to pay for hosting and maintaining the website, insurance of the memorabilia collection and various licenses such as Adobe. We also need to build up a fund to purchase important memorabilia.
