Kevin Gallen

Kevin Andrew Gallen Date of Birth: Sep 21, 1975

Born Hammersmith, London, Kevin made his QPR debut as a striker at Old Trafford at the start of the 1994/95 season. A terrific prospect he earned Under 18 and Under 21 England caps until a serious knee injury in 1996 set him back. On return, his form was mixed and after 171 appearances and 36 goals he moved on to Huddersfield Town in 2000. He did well but a change of manager saw him released at the end of the season. Barnsley signed him but QPR soon came calling and he returned to Loftus Road. He made a further 194 appearances scoring another 54 goals.

His old Manager, Ian Holloway, persuaded him to go on loan to Plymouth for a spell then it was on to MK Dons. Kevin played 31 times scoring 9 times as the Dons got promotion to League One and won the Football League Trophy.

Kevin joined the Hatters initially on a one month loan in October 2008. This loan was extended and then the move made permanent. He would make 75 appearances scoring 21 times. He scored his first ever hat-trick against Grays at home as part of 6 0 win. His finest game was probably the 4 3 away win at Cambridge United in September 2009. The Town were 2 0 down and down to 10 men at half time following what many saw as poor refereeing. Gallen and his team mates were different class in the second half. Rumour has it that Gallen was the leader in the dressing room and inspired the players to turn it round. Kevin led the way scoring two goals.

At 35 years old Kevin was squeezed out of the first team so he went on loan to Barnet for 3 months in October 2010. Released from his contract at the end of the season Kevin then had spells with Braintree Town, Leverstock Green and Aylesbury United.

After retirement Kevin had a brief spell at QPR’s academy before joining MK Dons as a scout. He was Dunstable Town’s head coach for 18 months and now does some media work, podcasts and radio.
