Steve Wigley, a £2,000 signing from Ashton-under-Lyne, has a fifteen-minute spell when he appears unstoppable and, during this period, he sets up Ian Wallace for the only goal of the game. Forest manager, Brian Clough, admits afterwards that the game could have gone either way.
