The first derby game between the two clubs since 1972 appears to be heading for a boring 0-0 draw when Hatters’ full-back, Kirk Stephens, drifts upfield and, at the far post, heads home a long cross from Hatton for his first goal for the Town. Earlier, Stein saw his shot rebound off the bar.
